Shoot in Large Formats

Although, in many photo gatherings, I have listened to numerous suggestions like the ones that say you should shoot everything in the RAW format, I still think it’s not necessary to have all the photographs in large formats. However, in case you’re purchasing a memory card for your camera, there is no need to buy one that has small memory (16, 32 or 64 MB) and then take pictures in small resolution. Formats like 1600x1200 or 640x480 often give poor quality photographs, even in the smallest format, 9x13.

One photograph in the RAW format can be as large as 10 – 40 MB, so if, for example, you’re going to a party or some other similar event, you’d be better off using smaller resolution and taking more photographs.

Surely, shooting in the RAW format has its own (significant) advantages; you can, subsequently and without the quality loss, adjust the white balance, color saturation and many other things.

If in the end, you decide to settle for the RAW format, make sure you have enough memory with you.
