Upon deciding to experiment a bit with your camera, remember, you will learn best by using the manual settings.
If you are still inexperienced photographer, it's recommended to let the camera decide on the length of exposure and shutter settings. However, don’t use the automatic settings forever and rely on the camera doing everything on its own. With time, try to determine and change exposure and shutter on your own, because that's the way you will best learn how your camera functions in different light conditions.
